December Update

In October, the band returned to the Manor Pavilion, giving their first indoor concert since February 2020. It was a fabulous evening, providing the opportunity to play several new pieces for the band, including Paul Lovatt-Cooper’s ‘Fire in the Blood’, the moving euphonium and cornet duet, “An Anchor for My Soul’, and John Williams’ stirring Olympic theme, “Summon the Heroes”.

December started with the disappointing news that our Christmas concerts had to be cancelled. With several positive cases of COVID-19 in the band, safety had to take priority, and we didn’t want to put other players or members of the audience, in a position where they might also contract the virus. The timing was rotten, having avoided any cases of COVID in the band the whole time we have been back playing. However, following a ten day ‘circuit break’, the band will be back out this weekend, and you will be able to see them in various places around the town.

On a brighter note, although 2021 has been challenging for everyone, we have been so lucky to be able to put on some wonderful concerts, and we would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has supported us during the year. Next year, we hope to put on our full summer season, along with our Last Night of the Proms concert. Details will follow in the new year.
